DENISE SAMUELS

Seeking order and control in my life, that’s what my art has always been about. The work I am now creating speaks to the deep satisfaction I derive when the shapes and forms fit together to make a whole. These pieces are my reflections on life, with many ups and downs; chance; and at times, a reaction to a troubling world. Others are just to remember the joy of color and play. The work is also a homecoming for materials I’ve collected over many years. Pieces of cardboard have been retrieved from the trash to become treasure. Other materials are collected from garage sales, gifted from friends and from my past artwork. They are measured, cut and sewn with fine wire to create a dimensional cloth.
