Living in Northern Michigan, I feel fortunate enough to be able to see the Milky Way so clearly. For me, the night sky is a reminder of everything that exists beyond our planet and, by contrast, the fragility of our own place in the cosmos. It provides a humbling sense of perspective. My art is a way for me to stay connected with nature even when I can’t experience it firsthand. I choose to work in acrylic paint because of its versatility: it dries quickly, allows me to experiment with colors and layers, and works equally well for blended backgrounds and finely controlled foreground details.
